My dad is a fit muscular man who really watches his diet an exercises. His family has a high predisposition to diabetes. He gets type 2 diabetes anyway It really pisses me off when I see 400lb men who show no concern for their health get tested and have completely normal blood glucose levels because they are lucky in the gene pool and are lucky to be born into a family with a low risk of type 2 diabetes. Vegetarians diagnosed with type 2 diabetes?
I wonder if my eating habits contributed to my diabetes. I was just diagnosed and for what I have read in books, diabetes is not caused by eating too much sugar or too many carbs...But I have my doubts. I grew up eating all the things that are now almost prohibited to me because they make my glucose go very high. I also eat tons of fruits and candies. Most people used to tell me that I must eat very healthy because I don't like meats, but I used to eat all the junk that is not meat, not only healthy vegetables beause they won't fill me up. I regret those times, but is nothing I can do.

Type 2 Diabetes, dehydration, weight loss. Shouldn't diabetes go away?
Okay, I've been thinking about this a lot lately. My brother passed away last June from Diabetic ketoacidosis. He was aware that he had diabetes, but wasn't really educated the best about the disease, and thought he was keeping everything well balanced. He changed his diet...cut out sweets, switched to diet pop, didn't eat as much pastas and bread. He ate a lot of meat though, which he thought was okay. I mean, his whole diet was basically meat. That's what made him sick at first, his triglycerides were sky high. Anyway, in about a year or two, he dropped over 100 pounds, so I'd say he probably weighed maybe 225 250 pounds when he passed away. He was pretty tall though, so he wasn't huge by any means. We all thought he was doing great. Come to find out, the doctor after my brother passed away said that he lost that weight because he was dehydrated all the time. He was constantly drinking and going to the bathroom. Well, my question is.... If you lose weight, type 2 diabetes should go away.... so why didn't his go away? He lost over 100 pounds, and it still took his life. Sorry to make this so long, but the reason I'm concerned is because I have type 2 diabetes, and I'm just starting that stage where I'm constantly thirsty and i'm going to the bathroom all the time, and I've lost 14 pounds within the past 2 or 3 weeks I went to the doctor awhile ago and he put me on metformin. I'm scared though.

Pre-diabetic....Type 2 Diabetes?
I'm 19, female, not overweight in fact I'm a bit underweight lately and I've been having a lot of symptoms of diabetes lately. I went to the doctor and he sent me for an oral glucose tolerance test. The results came back that I am 'pre diabetic', my fasting sugar was 6.5 and my 2 hour post prandial was 7.2.The doctor wants to do the test again in 3 months and gave me a diabetes fact sheet with a diet plan I have to follow. Is it possible for me to be developing Type 2 diabetes when I'm not at all overweight, eat healthily, exercise regularly.... I'm so confused
