Why does high blood sugar make you tired?
I'm specifically wondering why within a half hour after a high carb meal I feel tired, but if I eat nothing I don't feel tired. Thanks for your answers.
I'm not diabetic but I still have high blood sugar readings, why is this?
Diabetes runs in the family. My mother, sister, gran, etc all have it. Randomly I did a blood check the pinprick machine one morning and I had 7.0 very high before breakfast considering it should be between 4 and 6 . So I had a slice of wholegrain toast and went from 9 to 3 without eating. Did another pinprick test and I got 11.2, I'm like " woah" . So I go to the doctor's and they say " right, fasting blood glucose check" . I waited a few days, did the fasting blood test and controlled my sugar levels throughout the week by eating very healthily, counting carbs and taking cinnamon tablets to help lower blood sugar. Although still very slightly high they weren't as bad I was waking up with 4.5 and 2 hours after wholegrain I had 6.2. On Tuesday I received my results and I was absolutely fine my average is 5.5 and the range was from 3.5 6. Thinking that I was back to normal I went to university and had lasagne and lots of coffee. I got back just now 3 hours after eating , washed my hands, did a pinprick test and I got 16.2... in a few words, what on earth is going on? Are my results wrong?

High blood sugars past few days for no reason?
Ever since Friday of last week my blood sugar level has been above 300. I am 17 and I've been well controlled for the past few years. I'm rarely ever high unless it's a special occasion such as my birthday. I've been a diabetic, type one, since i was four years old. I am on the lantus solarstar pen 28 units before bed and on the novopen for one unit per every 8 carbs plus corrections if needed rarely . I'm kindof afraid to mention this to my parents right now, for my bad diabetes control in my early teen years. Only way my insulin works is if i take five times the amount i would normaly take.My question is what can i do? Did my body stop reacting to insulin?I tried a new pen of each, same results, and the pens are not expired.Anyone else go through this?Any way to help lower it better?Could a possible pregnancy be the reason??My period is due soon and i have had unprotected sex, and I know, don't yell at me, it was wrong and i risked a lot by doing that, and I'm sorry. Could that stress play a part in it?
Occasional High Blood Sugar?
I have had occasional high blood sugar and I'm starting to wonder if this is pre diabetes or a warning sign that diabetes might be heading my way. My mom, aunt, and grandpa all have diabetes. The highest my blood sugar has been when I tested it was around 160 which I know isn't very high but it is still out of range so do you think I should be concerned?After my first test of 155 my mom made me test at least twice a day where my sugar would be lower after school but at least two hours after dinner it would be 120 or higher and normal in the morning if that helps

High Blood Sugar!!! Really concerned!?
My blood sugar was 125 in a recent blood test. No fasting,,etc. In a follow up appt., he pricked my finger and it was 90. Should I be scared of diabetes? I'm adopted, so don't ask about family history....Thank you for no answers......surely there is someone out there that has borderline high blood sugar. I'm looking at type 2. Any thoughts or suggesions??????
