Question: Do you have to be overweight to get type 2 diabetes?

Can someone with a healthy lifestyle and healthy weight get it?

No you don't. Although type 2 diabetes mellitus is more evident in overweight people this is NOT the only cause of it. You could, for instance, be carrying a gene for it, as well as other reasons. If you are worried at all you really should see your doctor to have blood tests carried out. Diabetes is nothing to be ignored.

Yes there are two types of diabetes, one you can get from being overweight the other you can be as healthy as you want and have it

Yes it can come in anybody. DM- Type II usually comes in adults. It can come in obese or lean. Obese has more tendency for early appearance of DM compared to ideal weight people.
