There is only one definitive way to be certain whether or not you have diabetes - the Glucose Tolerance Test. Either you are normal, prediabetic, or diabetic. With that test, there is no guesswork, no way to misdiagnose anything unless the doctor is both blind and incompetent.

You can go to the local pharmacy and get a little test. To take the test, you pee in a cup and dip the test strip into your pee. If it changes colors you have glucose in your urine and likely have diabetes. Then make an appointment to see your doctor to confirm it. This disease is treatable, but it can be deadly if left untreated. Remember the Johnson girl (heir to the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical fortune) who died? She died just a few weeks ago at 30 because she had untreated diabetes. (If the test strip comes out without changing colors, breathe a little easier but test yourself every few days with the remaining strips to make sure you didn't mess up.)
